Exploring book formats and structures

As I want to make a box-like structure which has a hinge to represent a button tin, I have been looking at experts in the field of artist books to get some inspiration. I obviously don't have the experience that they have, but I can but have a go at a simpler version that fulfils the intention I want to achieve.
I came across the work of book artist, printmaker, teacher and writer Jody Williams who is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota and  publishes artists books under the name Flying Paper Press. She has a MFA in printmaking and has published more than 24 limited editions of artist’s books since 1989.

These include her own writings combined with relief, intaglio and screenprinting on fine papers. She uses traditional and innovative bindings and structures as well as metals and natural specimens.
Her work is in the collections of the Walker Art Center, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Minnesota Historical Society, and numerous other museums, universities, and libraries.

I was particularly interested in the boxes she makes which become a clever part of the work itself. It is in keeping with the subject matter and adds a polished finish to her pieces.

No Longer There, 2008, Jody Williams

This one reminded me of the work of Joseph Cornell, particularly the following two images. This one is Untitled 1946-48 (150 Kb); Construction, 12 1/2 x 9 15/16 x 4 3/8 in;

And this one, which is entitled L'Egypte de Mlle Cleo de Merode, cours élémentaire d'histoire naturelle , 1940 (150 Kb); Construction, 4 11/16 x 10 11/16 x 7 1/4 in;

Other works by Jody Williams which has helped me think what the end result will be for But's story.

Still Sense, 2008 Joy Williams
I need to decide where the box will be part of the book or just as a way of presenting it - ie. in a button tin/box to reflect what the story is about. I need to try it and see. At least I know the size of the pages which will give me an idea of dimensions.
